Through the lens, I capture the fleeting poetry of light and its absence, transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary.
My name is Lorenzo Furlan.
Self-taught and passionate, my photography explores the interaction between light and geometry in often overlooked spaces. Each image - either from my smartphone, film or digital camera - is a stolen moment, an act of resistance against the passage of time. Inspired by the concepts of liminal spaces and flânerie, my work invites the viewer to pause, feel and rediscover the world.
Working as a developer, this dual role led me to co-create an augmented reality experience for FIAC 2021 with artist Constance Valero at the Guerlain store on the Champs-Élysées. I also co-created a virtual reality work with her and Dana-Fiona Armour for the 2022 Venice Biennale. These experiences, although in the digital realm, share a common philosophy with my photography: to transport us elsewhere, to another world within our own, to contemplate and play with our perception.
From striking contrasts of urban solitude to impressionistic whispers of light, I capture the essence of the in-between, attempting to sublimate our everyday lives.
